Benefits of the Friends

Past projects of the Friends of the library have been many.

The Friends of the Elkader Public Library have sponsored many programs and purchased many items the library would not be able to purchase through normal funding avenues. Just a few of the projects have included sponsoring speakers such as the Chad Lewis presentation on Haunted Locations of Iowa, Storm Chasing, Civil War History and many more. The Friends have purchased bookcases for the children's area, a new bench and waste container for the front of the library, easels for programming and a CD disc repair machine. The Friends also purchased the movie license so movies may be shown in the library during story hour programs and library movie nights.
