Open Access and Access Plus Programs

Open Access: The purpose of Open Access is to provide Iowans with direct access to core library materials and information resources. It is a reciprocal borrowing program that enables customers from a participating library to go to other participating libraries and directly check out materials they own. As a patron of the Elkader Public Library to participate in Open Access all that is required is that you have a valid Elkader Public Library Card when visiting a participating library in Iowa. That valid card will allow you the right to check out materials at libraries across the state. Open Access is funded as part of Enrich Iowa Program. Access Plus Access Plus gives Iowans equal access to library resources by encouraging and supporting library resource sharing. Participating libraries agree to loan their materials to other libraries for use by their customers. Access Plus is the program that allows the Elkader Public Library to interlibrary loan materials from accross the state for your use. If the Elkader Public Library does not own the materials you need there is a good possibility that another library in Iowa will have what you need and the Elkader Library can borrow it for you. Access Plus is funded as part of Enrich Iowa Program.
