Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Elkader Public Library have sponsored many programs and purchased many items the library would not be able to purchase through normal funding avenues. For adults, the Friends of the Library have hosted speakers such as authors, actors portraying historical figures, and other programs such as a murder mystery and ghost hunting presentations. For children, the Friends have sponsored performers and presentations, as well as purchased incentives for the Summer Reading Program, and they have hosted holiday parties. The Friends have also purchased much-needed items for the library, such as an outdoor bench, filing cabinets, and more.

Donations can be made by joining the Friends of the Library or by a one-time monetary gift. Membership form is available here. Friends meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. Please check our Events or Calendar pages for scheduled meetings.

Donations of good used books are also accepted by the Friends to be sold at their annual book sale held during Sweet Corn Days in July each year.

Donations may be brought to the library at 130 N. Main Street during library hours. If assistance is needed in bringing books to the library, please call the library and a Friend of the Library will contact you.

The Friends of the Elkader Public Library are a 501 (c) 3 organization. All gifts and donations are tax deductible.
